Hey! I am Mathieu Richard, although I’m better known as Matty out here.  Originally from Moncton, New-Brunswick, I moved to Whistler in 2000 and nine years later I’m still loving it!  Every year I ski as much as I can, rain or shine. I don’t know what it is exactly but i freaking love it, being in these epic mountains, exploring different zones around the world, I can’t get enough.  Coming straight out of the 600 vertical feet hills of the East my two partners in crime, Dominic Melanson and Kris Cormier, and I spent our first few years out here getting to know what skiing could really be.

After a few years out here I started competing in Freeride comps (extreme skiing) and kept that up for the next 5 years. I had opportunities to traveled all over, skiing with all sorts of wicked people. I had some decent results and countless great times! I am super lucky to be part of the Rossignol team. They have made incredible things possible for me over the past 6 years. Although taking a year away from competing I am still ski everyday, traveling and doing all sorts of cool stuff. I try and get out with my girlfriend Yarrow and our dog Sula into the backcountry to explore even more terrain.
